He also holds a degree in Electronic Engineering with a focus on Bioengineering, where his thesis was titled \"Microfabrication of Carbon Nanotube-Based Actuators for Bioengineering Applications\" in April 2001  .<br \/>\r\nAcademic Positions and Experiences<br \/>\r\n<br \/>\r\nCurrent Position<br \/>\r\nDr. Tognetti is currently a Full Professor at the Department of Information Engineering, University of Pisa, and serves as the President of the Joint Council of Degree Courses in Biomedical Engineering and Bionics Engineering since September 2024  .<br \/>\r\n<br \/>\r\nPrevious Positions<br \/>\r\nHis previous roles include Vice-President of the Joint Council for Biomedical Engineering courses, Associate Professor, and various research positions at the University of Pisa. He has also held adjunct professorships and research fellowships, contributing to various projects and initiatives in bioengineering   .<br \/>\r\n<br \/>\r\nTeaching Activities<br \/>\r\nHe has taught several courses at the University of Pisa, including \"Bioelectrical Phenomena I and II,\" \"Biosensors,\" and \"Modeling of Multi-Physics Phenomena\" for both Bachelor's and Master's programs in Biomedical Engineering and Bionics Engineering. <br \/>\r\n<br \/>\r\nResearch Activities<br \/>\r\nHe coordinates several research groups focused on wearable technologies and biosensing at the University of Pisa. His leadership includes the \"Augmented Reality\" Laboratory and groups dedicated to cardiac modeling and wearable biosensing technologies  .<br \/>\r\n<br \/>\r\nResearch Projects<br \/>\r\nDr. Tognetti is involved in significant national and international research projects, including the European Horizon Europe TOLIFE Project aimed at improving management and quality of life in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, with a total budget of \u20ac5.9 million . Work in both domains aims to provide practical tools for digital medicine, combining advanced measurement technologies with personalized models to improve monitoring, prevention, and clinical decision-making.<br \/><br \/><strong>Non-Invasive Biomedical Technologies<\/strong><br \/><br \/>This research line addresses the design and development of devices and systems for the continuous and non-invasive monitoring of physiological parameters in real-world conditions. Activities include:<br \/>\r\n- Design and modelling of wearable and unobtrusive sensors for the detection of posture, movement, cardiorespiratory signals, and other physiological parameters.<br \/>\r\n- Integration of embedded systems for data acquisition and processing in uncontrolled environments.&nbsp;<br \/>\r\n- Development of artificial intelligence algorithms for the processing of physiological signals and the classification of clinical or functional states.<br \/>\r\nThese technologies are applied in healthcare and clinical settings, with particular focus on daily patient monitoring and predictive, personalized medicine.&nbsp;<br \/><br \/><strong>Computational Modeling of Physiological Systems<\/strong><br \/><br \/>The second research line is dedicated to computational modeling, with a specific focus on the heart and cardiac electrophysiology.
