Curriculum vitae di Marco Franciosi
Marco Franciosi is actually Associate Professor at ”Dipartimento di Matematica”, Università di Pisa.
He studied at the university of Pisa and in 1993 he obtained its degree summa cum laude in Mathematics,
under the supervision of Prof. Fabrizio Catanese.
Title of the thesis: ”Immersioni di superficie razionali” (Embeddings of rational surfaces).
He started his Phd program at Scuola Normale Superiore in 1993 and in 1996 he got a position as assistant
professor at the faculty of engineering at the University of Pisa. From 2017 he is professor at the Department
of Mathematics, University of Pisa.
He has been visited University of Bayreuth (Germany), University of Bielefeld (Germany), Marburg (Germany), Duke University (USA).
His research activity concerns “Algebraic Geometry”. In particular he has been studied singular algebraic
curves and singular algebraic surfaces. The curves has been studied with attention to their Picard scheme
and to the study of invertible sheaves of low and high degree; the surfaces have been studied in the realm of
stable surfaces, paying attention to the moduli space of stable surfaces with low invariants, and studying in the
details the case K^2=1.
His teaching activities is concentrated on “mathematics for engineering” for the bachelor students at the faculty
of engineering and “Algebraic Geometry” for the students at the faculty of Mathematics.
