The postgraduate degree course Etologia clinica veterinaria, active since 2014, trains veterinary doctors to become experts in animal behaviour, in accordance with the guidelines issued by the Federazione Nazionale degli Ordini Veterinari (FNOVI).
The course begins with the study of normal behavioural patterns in companion animals (such as dogs, cats, and horses), and continues with the analysis of behavioural disorders, examining their symptoms and therapeutic approaches—both behavioural and pharmacological—through the presentation of clinical case studies.
Classes are held monthly (from March to June of the year following the course start date) on weekends, from Friday afternoon to Sunday morning, and are equally divided between online and in-person format.
At the end of the postgraduate degree course, there is a traineeship period that involves the presentation of behavioural clinical cases under the supervision of a tutor, along with the discussion of a thesis on a topic covered during the programme.
Career opportunities
The postgraduate degree course is a prerequisite for obtaining the official title of Behavioural Veterinary Expert awarded by the FNOVI (Federazione Nazionale Ordini Veterinari). It qualifies professionals to offer behavioural consultations, advise on animal welfare, and contribute to the development and implementation of educational initiatives related to animal behaviour and human–animal relationship.

4000 € payable in 3 instalments

Registration fee reductions are available for 6 students as specified in the call for applications.
